For Hall 4.0 of the Messe and Congress Center Basel, we implemented an intelligent media technology solution that combines maximum flexibility with intuitive operation. The result is an environment that optimally supports a wide range of event formats.
The Messe and Congress Center Basel, part of the MCH Group, is one of Switzerland’s leading exhibition venues. With Hall 4.0, a dedicated area has been created specifically for workshops, seminars, and breakout sessions. The aim of this project was to equip the twelve flexible group rooms in this hall with state-of-the-art, user-friendly, and adaptable media technology that meets both the technical and functional requirements of a wide range of event formats.
Implementation focused on intuitive operation and high technical quality. Each group room has been fully equipped with a centrally controlled iPad, allowing users to manage both lighting and all media components. The rooms can be operated individually or interconnected, depending on the desired room setup. For presentations, each room features two AV-over-IP encoders that transmit content directly to the projector. Audio output can be controlled either via the iPad or through a mixing console, which distributes sound signals to the room’s speakers—ensuring clear and intelligible audio.
In addition, two Shure Axient handheld transmitters and two bodypack transmitters per room provide maximum flexibility for audio applications. Visual content can also be displayed on a reference screen if needed. Predefined lighting presets, easily accessible via the iPad, allow quick and convenient adjustment of lighting conditions to suit any event scenario. Eleven of the twelve rooms can be operated simultaneously, offering ideal conditions for events involving multiple breakout groups.
