The Swiss City Marathon 2024 in Lucerne was not just a competition, but a fascinating interplay of sport and technology. Against a backdrop of fantastic autumn weather, both participants and spectators experienced an unforgettable event that was enriched by innovative technology.
On October 27, 2024, the Swiss City Marathon took place in Lucerne and the surrounding agglomeration. Around 11,500 athletes took part in various distances in fantastic autumn weather.
In our role as technical partner, we were responsible for the sound system for the start and finish area. Careful planning was crucial, especially on the Verkehrshausplatz, which is densely built-up. Here, it was important to plan the sound system precisely to ensure that the audience could hear everything perfectly.
We also took over some of the camera technology and provided two large LED walls at the start and finish area. This enabled us to capture the event comprehensively and let the spectators share in the exciting moments. The LED walls enriched the event both visually and acoustically, allowing the audience to experience every exciting second of the marathon up close and cheer on the runners.
An important aspect of our work was precise planning and coordination to ensure a speedy set-up, as the road could only be closed shortly before the start. Our experienced technicians worked closely with the organizers to ensure that all technical requirements were implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
