Light with impact for the Empa Academy

In the Centre for Research and Knowledge Transfer, the lighting now also sets the right tone: the rooms of the Empa Academy have been technically and atmospherically upgraded with a modernized, versatile, controllable lighting system. The new solution combines functionality with design elegance - tailored to a wide variety of event formats.

Empa is the ETH Domain's interdisciplinary research institute for materials science and technology. The Academy serves as a platform for knowledge transfer and builds bridges between science, industry and the general public. The Academy Plenum offers space for 256 people and can be divided into two smaller, independent rooms: Academy I and II. These are used for conferences, courses, seminars, presentations, events and internal employee information. We now had the opportunity to take over the lighting design for the hall lighting in the Academy I and II rooms. Area, ambient and ambient lighting were integrated into the existing AMX control system.
Recessed spot lights from Prolicht with 4000 Kelvin and Tunable White technology were used for the lighting. In addition, RGB W LED strips replaced the existing FL luminaires on the ceiling sides to create a stylish ambience. The lighting is characterized by a colour rendering of at least Ra (CRI) 90 as well as homogeneous uniformity and standard-compliant horizontal illuminance. The individual luminaire groups are DALI dimmable.
The new lighting concept was implemented by the local electrician in summer 2024. auviso was responsible for consulting, designing and planning this permanent installation, making a significant contribution to the technological upgrade of the Empa Academy.
