Comprehensive media solution for the new Pilatus Arena
ReferencesComprehensive media solution for the new Pilatus Arena
The Pilatus Arena in Kriens is a forward-looking construction project of regional and national significance. As a multifunctional indoor sports and event arena, it will offer space for around 4,500 visitors in the future and set new standards for events in Central Switzerland. As part of a comprehensive development of the area around Mattenhof, a new venue for sports, entertainment, and socializing is being created here – with optimal access and a high quality of stay. auviso was commissioned to design and implement the overall media technology solution for the arena's technical infrastructure.
The project focused on developing a modular, controllable multimedia system that could be used for daily sports activities as well as shows, concerts, and corporate events. A sound system designed for high speech intelligibility and even sound distribution was installed in the arena itself. This is supplemented by an EVAK system in the surrounding and adjoining rooms, which ensures safety and clear communication in emergencies.
A striking highlight inside the arena is the large-format LED cube measuring 4.5 x 4.5 x 3 meters, which is installed centrally above the playing field. This is complemented by a 182-meter-long LED ribbon board mounted around the perimeter of the arena, as well as around 80 meters of LED boards that can be used for advertising, scores, or animations. These elements open up a wide range of visual possibilities for the emotional presentation of content.
Twelve moving heads and twelve panel lights were installed for the show lighting, enabling harmonious lighting design for sports and show formats. All media technology components are controlled via a central playout system that combines audio, video, and lighting in a single user-friendly, efficient, and future-proof operating concept.
In the area of digital signage, 23 screens provide targeted information and orientation throughout the arena complex. The highest quality was also a priority outside the main hall: two separate event zones were set up in the VIP area on the third floor and in the foyer on the ground floor, each with its own sound system, screens, and individual controls. This allows these areas to be used independently of the arena events and for different formats.
We would like to thank everyone involved for their trust and are delighted to have contributed to the appeal and functionality of this new event location with our work.
